#28 Explore a 'right of recall' power

One issue which is worth considering but which is fraught with difficulties is the right of recall. This just means that where politicians have not lived up to what they promised their electorate, or are involved in activity which their electorate believes questions their fitness to represent them, then the electorate has a right to 'recall' that politician and force a new election. The difficulties exist since sometimes politicians really do have to make difficult decisions and political opponents can use recall in negative ways. It can also make politicians even more risk-averse—but this issue and solutions should be explored in the Democracy Academy.
